MAINTENANCE IN A FERTILIZER FACTORY
TYPE OF MAINTENANCE
1. Planned Maintenance includes
(a). Routine Maintenance:- This is a daily or monthly maintenance which could be cleaning, inspection, oiling and retightening of the mits to retain its healthy condition.
(b). Preventive maintenance:- This includes maintenance that could be done, if one notices or hear a change in any part of the machine like change in sound.
(c). Predictive Maintenance:- In this case, the machine can be serviced based on prediction or suspecting some weakness in some part of the machine.
(d). Designed-out Maintenance:- This has to do with redesigning of the system or easy maintenance especially when some of the part are no more found in the market. It can be re-designed in other to replace the original parts.
(e). Environmental Based:- This is done based on the temperature or location of the industry where the machine is located.
2. Unplanned Maintenance: This is more of emergency, it can occur at anytime this includes
(a). Corrective Maintenance:- It is the maintenance done in order to change the machine to accommodate other function.
(b). Breakdown Maintenance:- It is done when the machine breaks down.
(c). Opportunist Maintenance:- It is the maintenance in done when a problem is discovered in trying to solve another problem.
WHY MAINTENANCE IS NECESSARY
- To prolong the life span of the machine
- To reduce time factor
- To prevent industrial accidents
CAPACITY OF THE PLANT
The capacity of the fertilizer blending plant is forty metoic foues per hour (40mTih). This can be further translated to mean eight hundred bags of fertilizer per hour (800bags/n). The blending plant is supported with 350KVA generator plant that supplies high incase there is a power failure. The capacity of the plant demand of the entire state as well as supplying to the buyers.
